Who is it for?

Visual feedback, although developed for use with Phantom Limb Pain has also been recognised to be useful in the treatment of other conditions  which are either painful or where movement is inhibited, or both.

Phantom Limb: where an amputation of a limb has occurred and all the sensations in its place are so acute as to suggest that the limb is still attached to the body. Usually the sensations are extremely painful. For instance the phantom hand may make such a tight fist that fingernails are felt to dig into the phantom hand. The bouts of “phantom pain” are sporadic and come without warning but are said to decrease with time

FOR: Hemiplegia: Paralysis of one side of the body after a stroke.
hemi = (half) + plege (a blow, stroke).

IT CAN HELP: Where there is cluster of painful symptoms occurring in one hand or foot due to CRPS, fibromyalgia, arthritis or any other pain syndrome.

FOR: Use as a tool in rehabilitation after fractures or trauma to one hand or foot.

FOR: Patients who are left with very stiff and swollen hands or feet when their cast is removed. Mirror therapy is an ideal device to promote movement and excercise in weakened fingers, wrists, ankles and toes.

IMPORTANT: The device can only be used where the patient has one perfectly healthy hand or foot to reflect.
The subtlety of the way it works, could result in further problems, if a less than healthy limb is reflected.
